Color / pattern guide

This is a short overview of some common color mutations and how to create them in BUDGIEGENEX
In each case the starting point is a normal budgie without any mutations present.
This is default when you start BUDGIEGENEX.
Most of these mutations can be combined.

Base color variants:

Lightgreen

This is the wild color of budgerigars. No mutations or only recesive mutations are present. Switch all mutations to normal gene.

Darkgreen

Switch on one of the dark factors. (D.d)

Olive

Switch on both of the dark factors. (d.d)

Skyblue

Switch on both of the type one blue mutations. (b1.b1)
Or: Switch on both of the type two blue mutations. (b2.b2)

Cobalt

Create a skyblue budgie.
Then switch on one of the dark factors. (D.d)

Mauve

Create a skyblue budgie.
Then switch on both of the dark factors. (d.d)

Violet

Create a cobalt budgie.
Then switch on one of the violet factors. (V.v)

Or:

Create a skyblue budgie.
Then switch on both of the violet factors. (v.v)

Grey

Currently it is impossible to create in BUDGIEGENEX.

Slate

Currently it is impossible to create in BUDGIEGENEX.

Anthracite

Currently it is impossible to create in BUDGIEGENEX.

Yellowface/Goldenface variants:

Yellowface I

Switch on one type one blue mutation and one type two blue mutation. (b1.b2)

Yellowface II

Switch on one type one blue mutation and one type two yellowface mutation. (b1.by2)

Goldenface

Switch on both of the goldenface mutations. (bg.bg)

Or:
.
Switch on one type one blue mutation and one goldenface mutation. (b1.bg)

Dillution variants:

Greywing

Switch on both of the greywing mutations. (cg.cg)

Or:

Switch on one of the greywing mutations and one dilute mutation. (cg.cd)

Clearwing

Switch on both of the clearwing mutations. (cw.cw)

Or:

Switch on one of the clearwing mutations and one dilute mutation. (cw.cd)

Full-body-color greywing

Switch on one of the greywing mutations and one clearwing mutation. (cg.cw)

Dilute

Switch on both of the dilute mutations. (cd.cd)

Male/female:

Male budgie

BUDGIEGENEX by default creates a female budgie. In birds the sex chromosomes works in opposite ways compared to mammals. The budgie wich has different sex chromosomes becomes a female budgie. (W.Z) The budgie wich has same sex chromosomes becomes a male budgie. (Z.Z)

Pattern variants:

Lutino

Make sure that all the present Z chromosomes have an ino mutation. (Zino)

Albino

Same as lutino except that the starting point should be a blue budgie. (b1.b1)

Creamino

Same as lutino except that the starting point should be a yellowfaced budgie.

Opaline

Make sure that all the present Z chromosomes have an opaline mutation. (Zop)

Spangle

Switch on one of the spangle mutations. (S.s)

Double-factor spangle

Switch on both of the spangle mutations. (S.s)

Cinnamon

Make sure that all the present Z chromosomes have an cinamon mutation. (Zcin)

Lacewing

Make sure that all the present Z chromosomes have both a cinamon mutation and a ino mutation. (Zcin, ino)

Dominant pied

Switch on one or both of the dominant pied mutations. (T.t) (t.t)
The clear area can vary in size and position. The represented pied on the picture is just one common variant.
Budgies with double factor pied has bigger clear area.

Recessive pied

Currently it is impossible to create in BUDGIEGENEX.

Clearflight pied

Currently it is impossible to create in BUDGIEGENEX.

Dark eyed clear

Currently it is impossible to create in BUDGIEGENEX.

Fallow

Currently it is impossible to create in BUDGIEGENEX.

Saddleback

Currently it is impossible to create in BUDGIEGENEX.

Texas Clearbody

Currently it is impossible to create in BUDGIEGENEX.

Black face

Currently it is impossible to create in BUDGIEGENEX.
